DENTAL PROSTHESES

Dental prostheses or dentures, are a part of rehabilitation treatments that replace missing teeth, restoring lost aesthetics and functionality to the mouth. After taking digital impressions in the dental clinic, the dental laboratory designs and builds the tailored prosthesis, according to the characteristics and physical and anatomical needs of each patient, since it must adapt perfectly to the base that holds it (implant), to the tissues and the shape of the jaws of which it will be a part.

WHAT IS A DENTAL PROSTHESES?

A dental prosthesis is an artificial medical device that serves to restore the anatomy of one or more teeth, or even the entire mouth. Dental prostheses are manufactured in a personalized way and can be made of multiple materials such as ceramic, zirconium, titanium, etc.

We always work with fixed dental prostheses on dental implants, which allow us to replace one piece, several or even complete arches permanently.

HOW TO CLEAN DENTAL PROSTHESES?

Fixed dental prosthesesare usually cleaned like the rest of the teeth and molars in the oral cavity, with daily hygiene with brushing and, if necessary, dental mouthwash and irrigators. It is important to use dental floss or interdental brushes so that the space between the prostheses and the natural teeth is clean and food or bacterial plaque does not accumulate, which can lead to cavities and gum disease. Brushing should always be done following the guidelines of our professionals and emphasizing the tooth-gum junction.

TYPES OF DENTAL PROSTHESES

The fixed or definitive dental prosthesis is made by placing implants that are integrated into the bone and on which the new prosthesis is subsequently screwed, recovering all the functionality of the mouth. Another type of fixed dental prosthesis are dental crowns that are cemented on previously prepared teeth.

The removable dental prosthesisis the most economical option, however, they may present some mobility when speaking and chewing certain foods, so we do not recommend it in practically any case. They usually need periodic readaptations due to the physiological reabsorption that the jaws (bone and gum) suffer.

HOW MUCH DOES A DENTAL PROSTHESIS TREATMENT COST?

The prices of fixed dental prostheses are influenced by the number of pieces to be replaced and the number of dental implants on which the prosthesis sits.
